
DESIGN OF THE POD
The pod is divided into four food sections: two hot and two chilled. The hot dishes are steam heated separately in the induction oven and simply dropped into the pod prior to serving. The chilled dishes, found in the base of the pod, swivel out individually as illustrated.
The pod has a compact footprint - one third the size of a regular hot meal tray - while still preserving the volume of food that each passenger receives. This makes for space-saving in the galley and also on the passenger’s seat back table.
The pod consists of only five parts, all of which are designed to be reused so there are no foil and plastic wrappers to dispose of. However, there is the option for alternative disposable inserts should they be needed, including the two food containing liners.
