Quodpod takes to the Skies with Gulf Air

During November 2011 a six-month trial got underway with Gulf Air, Bahrain's national flag carrier, where the Meal Boxes are featured on the children's service of selected international routes.

"This is a very exciting milestone for the company," says Katie Davidson, Managing Director. "It is a chance for us to demonstrate the tangible benefits and ease of handling both on the ground and in the air." The initial feedback has been very positive. A survey conducted by the airline in December showed an approval rating of over 80% for both 'look of the Meal Box' and 'child's first reaction upon receiving the Meal Box'. In fact, it is so popular that parents have been asking to purchase the boxes for their kids to use at home.

Davidson is also pleased with the way Gulf Air's crew have taken to the new product. "While the Meal Boxes are designed to fit in with regular service, any new product needs an enthusiastic and open-minded crew to really work". Marcus Bernhardt, Gulf Air's Chief Services Officer adds: "Gulf Air crew are an integral component of our offering, not only embracing the airline's newest products and services but proactively adapting and evaluating them too... In fact, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive on the Meal Boxes both from the Gulf Air team and passengers".

At time of going to press Quodpod Meal Boxes were being flown on 3 international routes: LHR, CDG and FRA. The trial coverage will soon expand, taking in Bangkok, Rome and Kuala Lumpur by the end of March. These represent the international routes with the highest number of young passengers for Gulf Air.
